The Course6,892 Yards / Par 72
The Faldo Course at Mission Hills is China's first "stadium course" and features the region's only island green at the par-3 16th. Measuring nearly 7,000 yards from the back tees, it's highlighted by mounding and earthen amphitheatres to improve the spectator experience. The 16th hole and drivable par-4 15th are two of Asia's most exciting holes and have played significant roles in many tournament outcomes.
The Faldo course is not as long as some of the courses at the Mission Hills Golf Club, but that is overshadowed by the brilliance of the design. Designed primarily as a “stadium” course the use of natural amphitheatres gives the amateur golfer the chance to imagine the crowds of thousands surrounding the greens and tees.
For average and single figure golfers alike the user friendly design is a big plus, as you can see all of the dangers that lurk on each hole. A breath of fresh air from the modern design of trying to hide the trouble from view.
Faldo has created a course that is not only a joy to play but also a course that will reward you with a good score if you strike the ball well, although you will rack up big numbers if you are a little wayward of off your best game, but that is the beauty of this course.
There are a few holes that excite and get the adrenaline going. A couple of short par fours that are driveable but full of danger and the par 3 16th are the standout holes.
The Faldo Course, unlike many of Mission Hills courses has a feel of being more secluded and less “conveyor belt” design giving its distance from the epi centre of the resort and offers a change in atmosphere to the other courses.
It is home to the annual Grand Final for the premier junior golf circuit on the continent, the Faldo Series Asia.
